Asian Blepharoplasty

Due to differences in periorbital and other body characteristics, eyelid surgery techniques have been developed specifically for Asian patients. Compared to blepharoplasty done on persons of European origin, Asian blepharoplasty may need to consider differences such as the following:
  • Heavier upper eyelids
  • Thicker skin
  • A greater amount of fatty tissue
  • Location of fatty tissue
  • Cosmetic preferences
Not all Asian eyes are the same; considerations may vary between persons of Chinese, Korean, or Vietnamese descent. Dr. Heffernan has the skills necessary to achieve optimum aesthetic results, while retaining the patient's ethnic features.

Unlike traditional blepharoplasty, some cases may involve minor excision of the Orbicularis muscle. To further discuss the procedure and the considerations involved, we suggest a consultation with Dr. Heffernan.
