Fraxel/Thermage to Open Aesthetic Center for R&D

frax-thermThe recently formed parent company of Thermage Inc and Fraxel – Solta Medical Inc., announced plans to open an ‘Aesthetic Center’ that will function as an R&D hub and physician training facility.

Activities within the center will aim to advance all of the innovative AED technologies that have been merged under the Solta Medical name.

The “Solta Medical Aesthetic Center” will incorporate an in-house clinic and a “biomedical engineering lab,” both of which are intended to foster more physician participation in ongoing product research.  In a company press release, dermatologist Vic Narurkar MD boasts, this “will allow the company’s optics and biomedical engineers to share data and receive immediate clinical feedback about their work in new product development and existing product enhancement.”

The facility’s opening is intentionally scheduled to coincide with the 67th annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology in San Francisco, which will bring together physicians and industry professionals for in-depth discussions on topics such as laser skin resurfacing and skin tightening.

New developments and collaborations in this field should create an environment ripe for new technological advancements in the cosmetic surgery and dermatology industry.

Here in Seattle, we look forward to new developments with Fraxel and will keep you posted.
